On June 11th, HHS released new information regarding the reporting requirements for Provider Relief Funds (PRFs).  Many of you have been waiting for this information, as the reporting requirements and timelines have been up in the air since January. 

Reporting will begin on July 1, 2021.  There are multiple time periods for reporting, as detailed in the table below.  Here are some key elements of reporting that have been updated:

  • HHS established timelines for the use of funds (“period of availability”) based on the date the payment was received (rather than requiring all payments be used by June 30, 2021, regardless of when they were received).
  • Recipients are required to report for each Payment Received Period in which they received one or more payments exceeding, in the aggregate, $10,000 (rather than $10,000 cumulatively across all PRF payments).
  • Recipients will have a 90-day period to complete reporting (rather than the original 30-day reporting period).
  • Reporting requirements do not apply to funds received from the COVID Uninsured Program.

Period 4 will only apply if there is another phase of Provider Relief Fund payments later this year.

HHS encourages providers to register now in the PRF Reporting Portal, found here.  Registration takes approximately 20 minutes and must be completed in one session.
